Altro Paradiso Altro Paradiso From the owner of the critically-acclaimed restaurant Estela in Nolita comes this Italian restaurant with a long name. Altro Paradiso takes inspiration from most regions of Italy, and big windows that let in pleasant hues of light throughout the day and into the evening. You can come in for a full dinner, a drink, a drink and a pasta, a glass of Sangiovese, a coffee and grappa, just some gelato--anything you want, really. It’s our humble wish that this be another kind of paradise.

The Plan Inspired by the word husmanskost, “everyday food" in Swedish, Houseman is a neighborhood restaurant where chef Ned Baldwin serves clear-headed food that ranges from the familiar to the unexpectedThe People Chef/owner Ned Baldwin came to cooking after a career as a visual artist and builder, spent four-ish years at Prune, and completed short stints at Craft and Italian Wine Merchants along with a few other kitchens around New York City. The Place Located in a tree-lined residential pocket of Hudson Square in lower Manhattan, Houseman is at 508 Greenwich Street just below Spring. Louis Yoh designed the interior which features a couple of very old walls, school house chairs, a zinc bar and tables made from reclaimed bowling alley maple. The Food We make the food that we want to eat. On any given night the menu features favorites such as a hamburger, roast chicken or seasonal vegetables alongside dishes like pickled bluefish or goat sausage. The Drink We keep it simple at the bar. Our concise cocktail list has classics, and riffs on them. For the beer drinkers, we’ve got a seasonal selection of bottles and cans as well as a kolsch from Cologne on tap. Our wine list is carefully curated and often updated to include easy-drinkers that are both sympathetic to our food and that will keep the oenophiles among us interested.
