About:
City Winery and American Airlines present a First Class International Pairing Series. We invite you to a three course dinner showcasing the wines and cuisine of a fascinating region served by American Airlines. The winemakers are characterized by their dedication to showcasing terroir and production of high-end wines. Each grape variety is hand- picked and carefully handled so as to maintain the fruit expression, and achieve wines with a singular unique style.
Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Albania… these countries rarely if ever are spoken when fine wine is mentioned. That should not be the case… and due to the work of the Balkan Wine Project… it won’t be for long. Morava, Zilavka, Vranek and Teran… all indigenous grapes that are starting to make noise in the Sommelier community… will hopefully soon be making noise in our glasses.

Countries on the Balkan Peninsula, a region in the southeastern Europe, are bounded by the Adriatic and the Ionian seas in the west, the Mediterranean and the Aegean seas in the south, and the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea in the east. The peninsula includes Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, and European Turkey.
The food culture of the Balkan Peninsula depended upon the historic, geographical, climatic, social, and religious elements. There are three main food culture areas: the Mediterranean, the Continental lowland, and the Continental Mountain areas.
Join us in exploring the food and wines of these countries, and help us spread the word about their quality and presence.
Everyone who attends a dinner will be entered into this sweepstakes, and will have the opportunity to win! Again, the drawing of final winner name will take place at the conclusion of the series of dinner in 2019. This will include the possibility to win 2 roundtrip tickets to any international destination that American Airlines services.
