Lowland Hum is an art-folk band based in Charlottesville, Virginia, made up of husband/wife team Daniel and Lauren Goans. The band’s songs have been described as poetic and evocative, and their arrangements minimal, hushed and dynamic. Lowland Hum’s engaging performance style is a seamless blend of vulnerability and comedy, paving the way for moments of intimate connection and levity alike. In early 2017 Lowland Hum released Thin, their third full-length studio album and took their new songs on the road for a nationwide headline album release tour; sharing the stage with Josh Ritter and Jesca Hoop along the way. In the fall of 2017, they released an EP of b-sides from the Thin sessions and, after supporting Penny & Sparrow on a national US tour, embarked on a six-week European tour. In November of 2017 they released Songs for Christmas Time, a collection of retooled Christmas classics, garnering high praise and top reviews from the Huffington Post, the LA Times, Paste Magazine and others. In the first months of 2018, the band has been touring the US as support for The Oh Hellos’ national album release tour. The Band’s recordings are becoming regular fixtures of curated playlists on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, where their following is steadily growing.
