On behalf of the development team at St John’s Terminal, we are writing to you regarding upcoming construction activities occurring at 550 Washington Street between West Houston and Clarkson Streets, and between Washington and West Streets.
This is part of our ongoing effort to maintain communication between the project team and the community, and to provide construction look-ahead updates to notify our neighbors and the community about activities occurring at the site and any potential impacts they may have on the community.
Demolition continues for the building between West Houston and Clarkson Streets, and between Washington and West Streets, including the demolition of the overpass above West Houston Street. Please note the north sidewalk on West Houston St between Washington St & West St will continue to be closed to pedestrians. The south sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian use during normal hours except at the times indicated below.
Weekend Fri 6/14 – Mon 6/17
Demolition of the 2nd floor of the building requires that Houston St be closed to vehicles & pedestrians between Washington St & West St during the following times:
- Fri 6/14 9PM – Mon 6/17 5AM
Weekend Fri 6/21 – Mon 6/24 and Week of 6/24
Demolition of the 2nd floor of the building requires that Houston St be closed to vehicles & pedestrians between Washington St & West St during the following times (Note: A mobile crane will be in operation on Houston St beginning Fri night 6/21):
- Fri 6/21 9PM – Mon 6/24 5AM
A mobile crane will be set-up on Washington St for the South Building Con Ed Vault Relocation during the following times. It will be set up approximately half way between Houston St & Spring St. A vehicle lane on Washington St will remain open at all times and work shall takes place during normal working hours.
- Mon 6/24 6AM – Fri 6/28 6PM
Removal of Con Ed transformers from the north side of the building (Clarkson St) may require a street closure of Clarkson St on 2 nights during the week of 6/24. Confirmation of the nights is pending with Con Ed. Every effort will be made to leave a lane open to vehicular traffic. North Clarkson St sidewalk will remain available.
- 2 weekday nights during the week of 6/24 from 9PM – 5AM
Weekend Fri 6/28 – Sat 6/29
Demolition of the 2nd floor of the building requires that Houston St be closed to vehicles & pedestrians between Washington St & West St during the following times (Note: A mobile crane will be in operation on Houston St beginning Fri night 6/28):
- Fri 6/28 9PM – Sat 6/29 11:59PM
There will continue to be two flagpersons in safety vests in place to aide with crossings during street closures. They will be positioned at W Houston and Washington Street, and at W Houston and West Street. In addition, there is additional signage to provide clear directions for alternative pedestrian routes during street closures. These signs are placed along W Houston and Clarkson Streets from West Street to Greenwich Street.
