Open Call for Artists
Hudson Square BID is excited to announce our Call for Artists for a new large-scale mural in Hudson Square! Hudson Square BID in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has issued a call for artists, designers, and other creatives to propose a summer 2024 mural installation that celebrates NASA’s mission through a creative and engaging artwork. This artwork aims to raise awareness and excitement around the agency’s mission– and should build on Hudson Square’s efforts to activate and beautify its public realm.
Award
- The selected proposal recipient will receive an all-inclusive award of $20,000 that must include all design fees, materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
Successful proposals will articulate a clear artistic vision that connects with NASA’s mission and HSBID’s streetscape improvement goals, demonstrates a high standard of design quality and originality, responds actively to the local environment and streetscape, and is suitable for the public realm.

The deadline for application is June 28, 2024, and the mural is expected to be installed between August 24 – September 7, 2024.
