Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Begins to Reopen January 11 – $284 billion was recently allocated for another round of the Paycheck Protect Program (PPP), a forgivable business loan offered through the federal government’s Small Business Administration (SBA) that helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the COVID-19 crisis.
The SBA and Treasury Department have announced that they are staggering the reopening of the program. Beginning Monday, January 11, community financial institutions will be able to initiate first-draw PPP loan applications, then offer second-draw PPP loans to qualifying businesses starting on Wednesday, January 13. The program will reopen to all participating lenders shortly thereafter and remain open through March 31.
Funds went quickly in the first round, so we recommend that businesses who intend to apply for PPP loans begin preparing their applications now. Read more about preparing your documents here. / Sign up for updates here.
