Freeman Plaza East opened in September 2014, as part of our on-going effort to make Hudson Square a place that puts people first. It is furnished with tables, lounge chairs and umbrellas on platforms and of course our giant red Noguchi sculpture. With a solar-powered cell phone charging station in the plaza so you can plug in your phone while you unplug your mind!
In light of Covid-19, the space has been modified to accommodate social distancing and to provide the community with more critical outdoor space. It’s a great place to hang out, clear your mind and let your imagination fly.
Freeman Plaza East is open Seasonally, Spring – Fall, Mondays – Fridays from 8am-dusk.
The entrance is on Varick Street – between Broome and Watts Streets.
Freeman Plaza East is owned and operated by the Port Authority of NY&NJ.
